Description
Independent math games are a perfect solution for that class that may just get a little too noisy when playing math games! It’s also a great solution for social distancing in the classroom.
These math games are a great option for math centers, independent seat work, and early finishers. You can even use them for morning work! Each game needs either dice or a spinner (just use a paperclip and pencil!). These games are completely no prep!
You can print the games to use in your classroom or you can assign them on Google Slides or Seesaw.
Why Independent Math Games?
I’ve been incorporating independent math games into my classroom for awhile and they’re always a big hit! Yes, it’s beneficial for students to play games with their peers to learn about sharing and teamwork. However, it’s also important we give our students the opportunity to think through problems without feeling rushed and to not feel the need to be competitive. It’s also just nice to have some quiet game time, which is what happens when students play a game independently.
