Description
Using the correct punctuation can be difficult for first and second grade students. These Groundhog Day themed punctuation activities are a fun way to implement extra practice for identifying punctuation and using a period, question mark, and exclamation point correctly.
These activities are great for:
- Write the room whole group activity – great way to get your kids up and moving!
- Small group work
- Early finishers
- Centers
- Tutoring
3 different activities are included. They are:
Punxsutawney Punctuation: Oh no! Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t want to get out of bed to see his shadow. It’s up to your students to get him out of bed! Students will “find” the punctuation. Hang the task cards around the room and students write down the correct punctuation on the recording sheet.
Wake Up, Groundhog!: The two kids are trying to wake up the groundhog! Students will read the sentence inside the speech bubbles and fill in the correct punctuation. Then, they will cut out and glue the speech bubbles on the page.
Groundhog Sentence Sort: Students will sort the sentences under the correct type of sentence heading.
No Prep Pages: Use as you see fit!
