Using the correct punctuation can be difficult for first and second grade students. These Valentine’s Day themed punctuation activities are a fun way to implement extra practice for identifying punctuation and using a period, question mark, and exclamation point correctly.
These activities are great for:
- Write the room whole group activity – great way to get your kids up and moving!
- Small group work
- Early finishers
- Centers

4 different activities are included. They are:
Cupid’s Arrows: Oh no! Cupid had the punctuation on his arrows, but he shot the arrows in the wrong direction! Your class needed all the punctuation for their valentines. Read the letter to your students. Then, hang task cards around the room. Students will walk around the room, reading the sentences. They will fill in the correct punctuation on their recording sheet.
Punctuation Chocolates: Students read the sentence on the chocolate. Then, they match the chocolate to the correct punctuation and shape on the chocolate box.
Punctuation Sundaes: Students will read the sentence on the ice cream scoop. Then they will glue the ice cream scoop on the correct sundae dish.
Valentine’s Day Mail: Students sort the cards into the correct envelopes.
