A good majority of December in first grade is spent testing teaching my kids how to retell a story. If you teach first grade, then I’m sure you know this can be difficult. While laying in bed the other night (because let’s face it, that’s where my best ideas come to my head), I thought of the cutest way to make it a little more fun and holiday related.
Enter the Retelling Reindeer.
Oh my word. Isn’t he a cutie patootie?
The reindeer is holding a flipbook for the students to write and draw a picture of what happens first, next, then, and last in the story.
I seriously cannot wait to do this craftivity with my kids next month.
You can grab the Retelling Reindeer by clicking the picture below.
Included you will find two different flipbooks. One includes what you see here with the First, Next, Then, Last. The second one includes the same flipbook, but with Characters, Setting, Problem, Solution. Both flipbooks have three different variations to meet the needs of different learners.
