Description

UPDATED ON NOVEMBER 25, 2014!

You can find the blog post here: Punctuation Is Sweet! Sentences Are Too!

Printer-friendly BLACKLINES now included!

-Anchor charts for the four different types of sentences- declarative, exclamatory, interrogative, and imperative.

-Crazy for Cookies! This includes a whole group activity and a similar center activity. There are four cookie jars with the four different types of sentences. Each student contains a cookie with a sentence on it. With a partner, they decide which type of sentence it is and place it next to that jar on an anchor chart. There is a similar center activity.

-Punctuation Scoot Sweetness: Place the 15 different sentence cards around the room and the students scoot around the room, writing in the appropriate punctuation on the recording sheet.

-Cupcake Calamity: Oh no! Cindy ate all the punctuation frosting off of all the cupcakes! A WANTED poster is available to introduce this activity to students. The students must save the day by figuring out all the punctuation for the sentences so that the cupcakes can have their special frosting again!

-Pop The Punctuation! 12 cards are provided and on the recording sheet, students color in the correct punctuation in the bubblegum.

-Sorting The Sweets: This comes in color and a more printer friendly black and white version. Students sort the cards in either declarative or interrogative. Cards are also provided stating Sentence or Question. It just depends on your learners! Students sort the cards. If you laminate the cards, students can write the appropriate punctuation on the sign on the card. There is also a cut/paste sheet with the same sentences.

-Sugary Spins: Students spin the spinner to determine which type of sentence they write on the recording sheet. Cards with sentences are provided for students who need additional help coming up with sentences.

-No Prep Printables & Assessments- There are three pages to quickly assess how your students grasped the types of sentences.
